About OLYMPOS

It is believed that the word “Olympos” means in ancient Greek “Almighty Mountain”. Worldwide more than twenty mountains and peak have this name and the boroughs and towns in the vicinities of some them have also received the same name. The most famous one among these mountains is the Thessalian mount in the north-east of Greece considered as the house of the ancient Greek Gods. The Antique City of Olympos has its name from the Mount Tahtalı, formerly known as the Olympos Mountains. Mount Tahtalı is located 10 km north from the city and hosts at its skirts the never dying fire, today known as Yanartaş.
